High school football Week 7: Cast your vote for the Independent Mail Athlete of the Week

It's that time again – time to pick the Independent Mail Athlete of the Week!

Each week during high school football season, we'll highlight one player from Anderson area teams whose game performance was notable the week before. Voting will be open Tuesday mornings through noon on Thursdays, and winners will be announced by 5 p.m. every Thursday.

Here are the nominees for this week – vote below!

Jared Kirksey, D.W. Daniel

In their 34-28 win over Wren, senior Jared Kirksey was a force defensively. He recorded nine tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks and one forced fumble. 

EJ Stafford, Liberty

In their 26-21 win over Crescent, junior EJ Stafford carried the load on offense. He totaled 228 total yards (163 passing, 65 rushing) and four touchdowns. 

Ja'Nike Truesdale, T.L. Hanna

In their 37-10 win over Easley, senior Ja'Nike Truesdale affected the game in multiple ways. On defense, he had four tackles, two pass breakups and one interception. On special teams, he had a 99 yard kickoff return for a touchdown and also blocked a field goal. In addition, he had 30 yards rushing on offense. 

Hack Hamilton, D.W. Daniel

In their 34-28 win over Wren, senior Hack Hamilton had a monster game on offense. He caught 10 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns, including the game winning touchdown with one second remaining. 

Clay Rebrick, Crescent

Despite a 26-21 loss to Liberty, junior Clay Rebrick had a very impressive game. He gained 190 yards rushing and scored three touchdowns. He also had 70 yards by kickoff return.
